Finish work that makes a room feel finished.

Paint, trim, caulk, hardware, and touch-ups are the last ten percent of a room and the part you notice every day. iFIXED handles finish work on its own or as the closing stage of a bigger project.

Why finish work belongs at the end, in order

Finish work is sequenced last because every earlier trade can damage it. Flooring comes before baseboard, so the trim covers the expansion gap. Paint comes before hardware, so hardware is not painted around. Caulk comes after paint has cured, so it does not crack. When finish work is rushed or done out of order, the room looks unfinished even if every big item is new.

It is also the stage most often left out of quotes for other work. A flooring estimate may not include reinstalling baseboard, and a cabinet install may not include touch-up paint. We list those items so they are not discovered at the end.

What we check before calling a room finished

Every finish job ends with a walkthrough, and these are the details we look at with you, room by room:

  • Paint lines. Straight cut lines at ceilings, trim, and cabinets, with no roller marks or thin spots in raking light.
  • Trim joints. Corners closed, nail holes filled, and caulk lines even where trim meets the wall.
  • Doors. Each door swings freely, latches without a push, and clears the floor.
  • Transitions. Thresholds flat, secure, and without trip edges.
  • Hardware. Cabinet doors aligned, drawers running straight, and every pull and knob tight.
  • Wet-area caulk. Tub, shower, counter, and backsplash joints sealed cleanly.
  • Cleanup. Dust, debris, and leftover material removed from the room.

If something on the list is not right, it gets fixed before we leave. That is the point of the walkthrough.

Finish work: common questions

What is finish work?

The last stage of a room: paint, trim, caulk lines, hardware, transitions, and touch-ups. It is the part people see and touch every day, and it is where a rushed job shows.

Can you finish a room another contractor started?

Often, yes. Send photos of the current state and what is left. We tell you what we can finish, and say so up front if anything already installed needs correcting first.

Do you do finish work after new flooring?

Yes. Baseboard and shoe molding go back after the floor, doors may need trimming to clear it, and transitions need setting at doorways. That work is often missing from a flooring quote.

Is a short list of finish items a handyman job?

Usually. Touch-ups, caulking, hardware, and a few trim repairs fit our flat-rate handyman blocks: $395 for a half day or $695 for a full day.

Do you paint whole rooms?

Yes. Full interior and exterior painting is covered on our painting page. Finish work is the detail around it: cutting clean lines, caulking, and touch-ups.

Does finish work need a permit?

Usually not. Paint, trim, and similar finish work are generally not permitted work, and Florida's $7,500 exemption covers most non-structural work on single-family homes outside flood hazard areas. We confirm if anything on your list needs one.
