Interior renovation services and full home renovations in Citrus County.
iFIXED is a veteran-owned remodeling and flooring crew based in Citrus Springs. We plan floors, paint, cabinets, doors, trim, kitchens, and baths as one written scope, from a one-day repair list to a whole-house renovation.

Interior renovation services in Citrus County
Most renovations here start with one tired room and turn into a list. We scope the list together, so floors, walls, and trim meet cleanly instead of being patched by three different crews.
Full home renovations, phased so you can live there
Full home renovations in Citrus County are usually done with someone still living in the house, so we plan the order around the rooms you need most. One bathroom and the kitchen stay usable as long as possible. Finished rooms get covered before work moves past them, and each phase ends with a walkthrough before the next one starts.
The reason to scope the whole house at once, even if you build it in phases, is the transitions. Flooring heights, door clearances, trim profiles, and paint colors all meet at doorways. Planned together, they line up. Planned one room at a time, every doorway becomes a compromise. The full home renovations page walks through the order of work in detail.
Regulated work, such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or structural changes, needs the appropriate responsible contractor and its own permit. We identify those items before pricing, so they are part of the plan instead of a surprise once the walls are open.
Citrus County housing
What we find in Citrus County homes
Citrus County has about 172,000 residents, and its houses skew older than the Florida stereotype. In the Census Bureau's 2020–2024 American Community Survey, the median home was built in 1990, half of all homes were built before 1990, and a quarter before 1980. The 1980s alone account for one home in four.
Figures from the U.S. Census Bureau's QuickFacts (2025 population estimate) and ACS 2020–2024 5-year estimates (tables B25034, B25035, B25024, B25003, B01002).

Renovating in Citrus County: what changes here
Who issues the permit. Unincorporated Citrus County is permitted by the Citrus County Building Division at the Lecanto Government Building, 3600 W. Sovereign Path, which processes permits online through Accela. The City of Crystal River runs its own building department, and the City of Inverness handles its own permits and inspections. A mailing address does not always tell you which applies, so we confirm by parcel.
A new exemption for small jobs. Since July 1, 2026, Florida Statute 553.79 lets owners of single-family homes and their contractors skip a building permit for work valued under $7,500. It does not cover electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas, or structural work, it does not apply in a flood hazard area, and a project cannot be split up to stay under the limit. The county still requires a written exemption request with the contract and a notarized form. We tell you which side of that line your project is on before work is scheduled.
The 50 percent rule. In a FEMA flood hazard area, Citrus County applies the substantial improvement rule: when the cost of an improvement reaches half of the building's market value, land excluded, the whole building has to meet current flood standards. Homes built on or before August 14, 1984 predate the county's first flood maps and are the most likely to be affected. Florida law now bars counties from adding up improvements over several years to reach that line, so the county looks at each project. You can look up your flood zone on the county's address lookup. We check it before writing a scope, because the answer can change what makes sense to build.
The coast is a different job from the inland towns. After Hurricane Helene in 2024, the county's growth management director reported about 7,000 coastal structures affected, about 100 of them substantially damaged. Coastal work in Crystal River, Homosassa, and Ozello starts with the flood zone and the damage history. Inland work in Citrus Springs, Beverly Hills, Inverness, and the Citrus Hills area starts with the age of the house and, in deed-restricted communities, any HOA approval.
Notice of Commencement. For most improvements over $2,500, Florida law calls for a recorded Notice of Commencement before work starts. It protects you from paying twice if a supplier goes unpaid, and we walk you through it on projects that need one.
Permit, flood, and storm details above come from the Citrus County Building Division and floodplain pages, the Cities of Crystal River and Inverness, Florida Statutes, and the Citrus County Chronicle. Requirements are set per parcel by the authority having jurisdiction, so confirm your address with them before relying on any of it.

How a Citrus County project starts
- Send photos and the address. One wide photo of each room and close-ups of damage, transitions, or anything you want changed.
- We check the property first. Jurisdiction, flood zone, and permit needs are confirmed by address before anything is priced.
- Keep, remove, or repair. We separate what stays from what changes, and owner-selected products from materials we source.
- A written, itemized scope. Priced by room and trade, with the decision points that depend on opening walls listed separately.
- Phased work and a walkthrough. Each phase ends with a walkthrough of the finished items before the next one starts.
What we don't take
Plumbing-only jobs, ceiling fan installs, and furniture assembly are outside what we do. If part of your list falls outside our scope, we say so in the first conversation.
Interior renovations in Citrus County: common questions
Does iFIXED offer interior renovation services in Citrus County?
Yes. iFIXED is based in Citrus Springs and plans interior renovations across Citrus County: flooring, drywall, paint, cabinets, doors and trim, kitchens, and bathrooms, scoped together as connected finish work.
Do you handle full home renovations in Citrus County?
Yes. Full home and multi-room renovations are phased room by room so you can keep living in the house, with finished rooms protected as the work moves. See full home renovations for how the sequence works.
Which Citrus County towns do you serve?
All of Citrus County, including Citrus Springs, Inverness, Crystal River, Beverly Hills, Homosassa, Lecanto, Citrus Hills, Black Diamond, Pine Ridge, Hernando, Floral City, and Sugarmill Woods. Send the address so we can confirm scheduling.
Do I need a permit for a renovation in Citrus County?
It depends on the work and the address. Since July 1, 2026, Florida law lets owners of single-family homes skip a permit for work valued under $7,500, but not for electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas, or structural work, and not in a flood hazard area. Inverness and Crystal River run their own building departments; the rest of the county goes through the Citrus County Building Division. We confirm jurisdiction and permit needs by address before pricing.
What is the 50 percent rule, and does it affect my renovation?
If your home is in a FEMA flood hazard area and the improvement cost reaches 50 percent of the building's market value (land excluded), Citrus County requires the whole building to meet current flood standards, which can mean elevating it. It mostly affects coastal homes and homes built before the county's first flood maps in August 1984. We check the flood zone first so the scope is planned around it.
How much does a small repair list cost?
Smaller lists go through our flat-rate handyman blocks: $395 for a half day (4 hours) or $695 for a full day (8 hours). Larger renovations are priced from a written, itemized scope after we see photos or the property.
Do you work on mobile and manufactured homes?
Send the details. About one in five homes in Citrus County is a mobile home, and floors, doors, and wall panels in those homes are built differently from site-built houses. We tell you up front whether the work fits what we do.
Can you repair storm or flood damage in Citrus County?
Yes. Water, fire, smoke, and storm damage repair is covered on our restoration page, and larger post-storm work on our disaster recovery page.
